Overview of AVB

Ascot Volunteer Bureau is a small local charity which is based in South Ascot (Berks). Our primary objective is to provide transport for the older residents of Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale to medical appointments. They can include appointments at the GP surgery, hospital, dentist, chiropodist, chiropracter, et cetera. This leaflet contains further information for potential clients of the service.

Our drivers are all volunteers who will pick you up from your home, take you to your appointment, either wait for you or arrange to pick you up on completion of your appointment and then drive you home.

There is an article in Ascot Matters in the form of questions and answers which provides useful information for potential volunteere on the work that we do. Also, check out this leaflet on volunteering.

Our other objective, subject to available funding, is to provide a limited number of lifelines to any elderly individuals who require them but would struggle to pay the monthly rent on them. A lifeline is a personal alarm system which allows an elderly person to seek help if they have a fall or feel unwell. See the Lifelines page for further information.

We can be contacted in the office on 01344 625520. The office is manned from 10 to 12, Mon-Fri but you can leave a message at other times and we will get back to you. You can also email us.
